This is the story of finding that Norwood home:
One bright and snowy winter day we fell in love with a farm on Main Street in Norfolk, Massachusetts, the town in which we live. We quickly realized that the property was too big (nine garages!) and we were not ready to move. Over that summer we continued to look at homes in the town of Norfolk. That search expanded to Walpole, Canton, Westwood, Dedham, Medfield and Norwood.
After over one year of falling hard for several homes and deciding against the years of work and money involved ... or losing them to quicker buyers, we finally realized that we needed to settle in Norwood where we could live close to work (the Morrill Memorial Library and Siemens Healthcare Diagnostics), school (Xaverian Brothers High School) in Norwood, play (Norfolk Golf Club) in Westwood and at the same time enjoy living near a commuter rail, restaurants and major arteries around Massachusetts and New England.The original plan was to buy a home big enough to combine both of our present and past households - not the easiest quest! At the same time, we needed some land (over 1/4 acre at least) for the honeybees In the end, we decided on a smaller home with a rich history and interesting architectural detail that could house most of our lovely antiques. We needed a great kitchen, a roomy dining room, a library/sitting room and a few bedrooms. And don't forget at least two full baths.
We have moved into 305 Prospect Street after closing on it on June 13, 2012 and are adjusting to the smaller space! We love sitting on the front and side porches in the early morning or late evening. Our kitchen is cozy and spacious at the same time. Chuisle is getting used to a new home although we aren't quite sure what she is thinking!
We found a home on Wildflower Lane in Marion on the southern Massachusetts coast for weekends, vacations and eventual retirement. We want to invite our friends and our growing family of four adult children and their spouses and their children and grandson Colin for weekends, holidays, vacations or family reunions or just plain respite from the real world.
